WWF Protecting Whales and Dolphins Initiative

Whales and dolphins play a critical role in maintaining ocean health and our climate, while contributing to the global economy - yet, they are under threat. WWF’s global conservation programme brings together experts, industry, policymakers and governments to co-design innovative solutions to safeguard our ocean giants and their migratory routes into the future - for the benefit of people and nature.

Whales and dolphins are nature positive
- but under threat

A new conservation approach for enhanced cooperation

Threats to whales have evolved - and so our conservation must evolve too. From local to regional to international levels, science, civil society, industry, states and intergovernmental bodies all have a role in safeguarding whales and their migrations, mitigating threats and co-designing solutions.
